10 Reasons for Gratitude

At this time of year, we give thanks for many things, including these:

10. Computers, the machines you hate to love, for how much easier they make the task of writing.

9. Contracts, with big fat royalty clauses.

8. A backlist that keeps on living and bringing in royalty checks.

7. Friends who critique our stories with love.

6. Readers who love our stories for their own sake.

5. Editors who boss us around.

4. Characters who boss us around.

3. Revision, because it makes everything better.

2. Friends. That includes you! It’s been a great year getting to know online friends better.

1. Family. Every day, I give thanks for my husband, three daughters, son and son-in-law. Life would be impossible without them and their love. They make the writing worthwhile.
