Re-type and Tone

by Darcy Pattison
This is a reminder of the importance of re-typing as a revision strategy.
This week–in the midst of lots of other stuff–I have to decide if I want to do a revision of a picturebook mss. The editor likes the language in the story, but that’s about it. After pushing, she gave me a bit more, a description of how she sees the art. Essentially, that told me the tone she’d like to see in the story. That’s something! Language and tone–I get to add the characters and plot. NOT the typical revision request I see!
