Editor interviews

by Darcy Pattison
Here’s a 25-minute podcast interview with Alvina Ling , editor at Little Brown Children’s Books.

Cherly Klein revises her bad picturebook.

Is self-promotion required for first books? Did you heavily promote your first book? Your second book? Well–WAS there a second book?

I’ve done more publicity with each book that comes out. I think it’s partly because I’ve made more contacts. With 19 Girls and Me, for the first time, a reporter from the local newspaper called ME; I didn’t have to call them with info up front. Seems a shame that so much depends on publicity for a first books–that’s when it’s the hardest to do.
